James E. Coleman
About
James E. Coleman graduated high school in 2002 from the Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science in Columbus, Mississippi.
Shortly after the terrorist attacks against the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, James started attending Mississippi State University, pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and Criminology. Troubled by current events, he dropped out of college and enlisted in the military to assist with the Global War on Terror in 2004. James served on active duty in the United States Marine Corps from 2004 to 2012. There, he met and married his first wife, a pretty Texas girl also serving on active duty.
James received a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Colorado Technical University in 2010. He then moved to Texas and earned a Juris Doctorate degree from Baylor Law School in 2015. He was then licensed by the State Bar of Texas on November 6, 2015, and again by the State Bar of Mississippi in November 2022.
James has practiced law in Texas for almost a decade. During his career, he has practiced in the areas of business litigation, contract actions, bankruptcy, personal injury, insurance defense, family law, and criminal defense. Currently, his primary focus is on all aspects of family law, including divorce, child custody, child support, modifications, and child protective service cases.
Mr. Coleman believes that the best outcome is one that is reached cooperatively, particularly if there are children involved. However, there are times when that is not possible, and litigation is necessary to protect your interests. He is not afraid to go to war to protect your family and your children when negotiations break down.
James’ areas of practice include family law, divorce, custody and visitation, enforcement and contempt, modifications of support, adoptions, terminations, name changes, child protective services actions, and suits brought by the Office of the Attorney General – Child Support Division.
James is a member of the State Bar of Texas, Family Law Section, Tarrant County Family Law Bar Association, and Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association.
He is a single father of three young children and spends most of his free time being a full-time Dad.
